Our approach emerged from years of observing which landscaping methods genuinely survive South African summers. We noticed most imported design templates failed within two seasons, cracking under temperature swings or requiring irrigation systems that contradicted local water policies.
Rather than continuing failed patterns, we studied indigenous construction methods and modern permeable materials research. This combination informs every project we undertake.
Material Sourcing Philosophy
We prioritize locally quarried stone and regionally produced aggregates. This reduces transportation impact while ensuring materials naturally complement existing landscape palettes.
Each material undergoes thermal expansion testing before we specify it for client projects. Stone that performs well in European winters often fractures here, and we refuse to install components with known failure modes.
Design Process
Initial consultations focus on understanding how you actually use outdoor space. A pathway that looks impressive in renderings but forces awkward foot traffic patterns serves nobody well.
We map sun exposure across seasons, identify where storm water naturally flows, and note which existing plantings should be preserved. Only then do we sketch routing options.
Installation timelines account for curing periods and seasonal weather. We never rush substrate settling just to meet arbitrary completion dates.
